Short Filming is Vehicle for Harmony and PEACE


A days training on short filming is organized by the Radha Paudel Foundation in partnership with Action Works Nepal, PACE Nepal and RACE Nepal, at hotel Kanjirowa, Jumla, dated on 10-18 April, 2017 where participants come from Mugu, Kalikot and Jumla where seven participants were female and rest of them male. The participants from Mugu came from Bhi High School which just bordering village of Humla and Bajura. They are four girls and boys. Likewise, the four participants joined from Kalikot who belong from school, journalism, and NGO. The rest of the participants (#12) came from Jumla who are working as journalist, NGO worker, studying in school, college.


During the course participants learned the rules of shooting including wide shoot, long shoot, close shoot, mid shoot, full shoot, point of view shoot, positioning of camera/angles of shoot, interviewing, camera setting, use of tripod, use of micro phone, head phone, shooting video, basic information about using MAC computer, editing etc.

Radha Paudel, Founder of Action Works Nepal and Radha Paudel Foundation did overall planning and management in assistance of Keshab Dhital, field coordinator of Action Works Nepal. PACE Nepal took the responsibility for administrative related matters. Likewise, RACE Nepal took care of managing home stay for eight participants from Mugu. More importantly, Saroj Shahi, Treasurer of RACE Nepal played vital role around technical support to the instructor, Ms. Dmaris Baker, Filmmaker and Musician from Montreal, Canada.

There were two shifts for training, one was started from 6.30 am and went till 9.30 where s evening shift was from 4 pm to 7 pm. Each shift divided in to different groups and provided both theory and skills/practice. During the course, besides the practice, the role play, demo, question answer, brain storming, group discussion also used as methodology for the training.


The five minutes' film produced from the eight days training. More importantly, it created a space to understand the social, cultural context of Mugu,Kalikot and Jumla which cultivate the culture of peace and justice.  They also practised of respect and diversity.
