ToT on Dignified Menstruation at SudurPaschim, Nepal

Facilitated the training on Dignified Menstruation: Context, Challenges and Way Forward in 16-17 February, 2021, organized by Ministry of Social Development, SudurPachim Pradesh at Dhangadi, Kailali. Dignified Menstruation, its context, urgency, importance, mainstreaming, policies, laws etc discussed through participatory methods including songs, book (Dignified Menstruation is Everyone's Business) discussion.

The total 23 (four male) participants from respective province where more than half of the participants represented government and rest of them NGO leaders as free lancer. It was rigorous discussion though I was upset by seeing the level of commitment among the participants. It was totally different experience and contrary from Solu or Bara or Jumla or anywhere.

At the end of session, participants provided the list of commitment at their individual level (summary as mentioned below) which showed the degree of fear, ignorance and silence around menstruation.

    1.  Use separate bed during menstruation,

          2.     Bath at the whole of pan toilet in order to not touch the entire bathroom.

          3.      Start to cooking and eating together with family

         4.       Start to enter and do puja during menstruation

         5.       Start to educate at home, and work.

         6.       Start to use the toilet

         7.       Start to drink the milk
