Menstrual discrimination, that practiced by school health nurse from Nuwakot, Dolakha, Chitwan, Sindhuli and Ramechhap

 The total 20 nurses were participated in lecture of dignified menstruation at School Health Nurse program where 19 were experienced various types of menstrual discrimination. One participant felt pride and power because she aware about menstruation from her nurse mom (Ramechhap). The following were gathered from participants, they shared their stories by writing in separate paper.

1. Feeling of scare, discomfort, fear, impurity, suffocation, restless 

2. Heavy bleeding, severe pain, lost many good opportunities 

3. Washed the cloth pad at night in the water of irrigation cannel and dried the cloth pad over the piles of wooden firewood

4. 4 days in separate room, or shed (Chitwan for 7 days and allow to touch water and kitchen by 22nd day) at aunt's house (Ramechhap),  5days,  9 days at Nuwakot, not allow to see dad and brothers, sun's light 

5.  Wash at river by the seventh day

6. Took a bath right after menarche and stayed separated room for 4 days

In school 

1. Girls feeling shame while sharing or discussion around menstruation 

2. Do not know to use menstrual pad, threw the pad in to toilet

3.  Issue of disposal

School management committee and teachers yet to accept the urgency and essence of dialogue on dignified menstruation
