Dialogue on Dignified Menstruation at Cranbourne School

It was great surprised when I saw few senior girls for dialogue on dignified menstruation. At the concluding session, I call for action to engage boys as well for creating enabling environment for dignity during menstruation. Boys and men have to hold accountability for it because menstruation is not only women's issue, it is everyone's issue. Girls shared their experience of their first menstruation, challenges around it.

We had intensive discussions on impact of media to eliminate the restrictions during menstruation in Nepal and beyond.

A day Trip in Kathmandu with Sudha Gurung

This is the travel experience with Sudha Gurung didi who lives in UK. She raised Npr 25000.00 fund for seling books of khalangama hamala and dignified menstruation.We had bitter but real experience about transport service in Nepal. She wrote very nicely about me, the corrupt culture in public transport.

Trip to Connecticut,Florida and Los Angeles, USA, December 2018

I was invited by Women Peace Maker Program, Institute for Peace and Justice, San Diego, USA to speak in Cigna University, Connecticut on emotional intelligence for leading the uncertainties. Then I had visited in Boston, Florida, Los Angeles to meet, speak friends and families. Primarily I discussed-spoke around prevention of Gender Based Violence, Women in Politics, Women in Peace and Dignified Menstruation at various level and ofcourse the road map of Radha Paudel Foundation. Besides the Women Peace Maker program, Shanta Adhikari from Los Angeles, Sujay Lama from Texas,  Dr Edmund Kellerman from Florida played crucial role for making this trip happened and fruitful in many ways. I extended my thanks to each of them and many others who were on my journey including the wheelchair pullers on airports. Here, I have share few photos as glimpse.

Educating and Empowering is the powerful way for social transformation: Brief Field Report:

Introduction:

Over 95 % of the families of Jumla, have been practicing sets of menstrual restriction for centuries at the name of culture, religion that remained a huge challenge for social transformation (Hodal, 2016).  The girls and women are staying in sheds (cow or buffalo or goats or horse or whatever they have) or separate huts or separate house or room with following restrictions related to food, touch, entering or mobility (Nepal, actionworksnepal.org, 2013).  Such restrictions affect the all aspect of the life of girls and women started from deprivation of food, health, education, participation etc. that leads to loss or no job, sickness, low income and often encountered with bites from snake, wild animal, murders, abuses, death and rape due to extreme cold or collection of carbon mono-oxide (Paudel, RHSC, 2016).  It further acknowledges that the menstrual restriction is key barrier for peace, serious form of violence of human right and hindering factor for empowerment as well as sustainable development goals.
