Glimpse of Jumla Trip by team of Radha Paudel Foundation, March 12-18, 2021

Radha Paudel Foundation had visited the Jumla about 1.5 years due to COVID-19 Pandemic. Anupa Regmi and Radha Paudel were in team. They facilitated three workshops to Sarbodaya Nepal, had made monitoring visit in educational support program, photography resource center, planning meetings for Kita Jatra, meeting the inspiring women activist, men champions and so on. Radha Contributed for eliminating the violence against women and dignified menstruation through Every Women Treaty. She had special delegated for Chili and Nepal

Urgency to speak about Dignity of Menstrurators by boys and men

My father who never ever been to school, struggled for bread and shelter in the remote part of Nepal , about 50 years back, he sent his five daughters to school and treated them as equal as my brother by allowing us to put the fire on pyre of death body of our mother,  and so on. Similarly, when I taught him about the process of menstruation, since then he never imposed any forms of restrictions during menstruation.  As my father, there are many fathers or men are not only supporters, change makers, allies but also holding accountability at personal and interpersonal level without having any orientation or training around human right or advocacy. Thus, all men are not same.

By caste, they are Bramin, Dalit, Janjati and covering entire Chitwan as local government. Almost all are practicing the restrictions during menstruation related with food, touch, mobility in first menstruation and in regular one. 

ToT on Dignified Menstruation at SudurPaschim, Nepal

Facilitated the training on Dignified Menstruation: Context, Challenges and Way Forward in 16-17 February, 2021, organized by Ministry of Social Development, SudurPachim Pradesh at Dhangadi, Kailali. Dignified Menstruation, its context, urgency, importance, mainstreaming, policies, laws etc discussed through participatory methods including songs, book (Dignified Menstruation is Everyone's Business) discussion.

The taboos, stigma, restrictions and discrimination associated with menstruation is s form of sexual and gender based violence. Irrespective of class, caste, religion, region, it is practicing across globe at various forms and degrees. The CEDAW’s (article 1-16), ICPD, and many international human right instruments are validate this facts.

No Doubt: Menstrual Discrimination is a form of Gender Based Violence

 Few people and organizations in Nepal and beyond get confused and are asking why is Nepal urging to celebrate the day as Dignified Menstruation (DM) for December 8? There could be many reasons behind this enquiry; they might considered menstruation is private or secrete issue, could think it is women's issue, or it's  matter of `shy', or dirty, or matter of using the menstrual products without making public, or May 28 has already the Menstrual Hygiene day so it's not just making confusion or duplicate the day and so many others.
