In May 20, 2016, I had participated consultation meeting of diaster management bill. My had done following points over the draft bill;
1. It should be wider participatory where the Survivors of diaster hold the positions as well
2. The should based on technology e.g. mobile apps or alarm system
3. should have greater inclusivness  includes age, caste, religion, .....based on context
4.Media should accountable, shouldn't disseminate as like Tanakpur incident 2015
5.There should be very clear in types of diaster, Karnali and far west are always in diaster in many ways but no one pays attention
6.should focus on sustainable livelihood plan
7. There should be plan for quality assurance including research, monitoring, documentation for contextual preparation and response
8. Capacity building plan for all stakeholders more for the community because community are the foremost rescuer always
9. should have the mechanism for transparency, participation, governance
10. consider the local political bodies and current political changes ( the absence of political bodies was big problem in earthquake 2016)
11. The duplication and political influence is always challenge

Many people asked me with doubt and irate manner, so aren’t you working as nurse? Or why do you leave your nurse job? Or so many others when they knew me as nurse in my introduction. Originally, I did staff nurse, I practiced Anaesthetic Assistant Nurse for 24/7 hours for 4 years and by specialization, I am public health nurse. The additional degrees added value to understand the dynamics of society and its growing pattern through the lens of health education, sociology and development from home town to aboard. Even today, I am working in public health in many ways. I always feel pride and proud of my nursing profession, gives an added value while working in any forms of crisis such as Maoist insurgency 2001-2006, 2006/2007 people war, Madhesh movement in 2007 and 2015, Koshi flood 2008 or Earthquake 2015.

#MHM Educating on Menstrual Health Hygiene, Chitwan

Chitwan is one of the developed district in Nepal so far but the conditions of women and girls is so far behind. Girls missed 3 days in a month due to period and 7/14 days during menarche. 100% students or any participants are following various forms of menstrual restriction though they are rich, educated and living in city. There were four interactions with school teachers, students and women and men in Kharehani, Chitwan so he entire community would get the same information without any dispute, conflict or confusion.

When I was studying at grade four, I heard and observed that many very young girls were getting married in my village, said by 18 years (her parents and neighbours hadn’t agree with her age, claiming 19 years) young, Terai Dalit girl named Rinku Thakur from Chhapkaiya 1, Birgunj, Parsa. She further added, I also heard about committed suicide by many young girls and women due to early, force marriage and other forms of domestic violence. She was quite worried since then due to fear of child and forced marriage in her culture and society. Being an eldest (#1-Rinku 18 years, “2-Brother 16, SLC attempted, #3- Sister 14 years 10^th grade, #4- Sister 11 years at 7^th grade) she is more vulnerable who must follow her parents peculiarly marriage without a single comment in many ways e.g. her marriage is a matter of honour in her society in order to continue the culture of this community.

Mark #earthquakeanniversary at Kathmandu, April 24, 2016, #demandpaper

April 25, 2016 was the black day in a history of Nepal due to devastating earthquake where about 9000 people dead, 22,000 people injured and 6,00,000 houses destroyed. The loss was shooting up due to monsoon, winter and more than 5 months’ boarder blockade.

By considering the massive loss of people and property, the international community committee promised to provide 4.1. billions dollars for relief and reconstruction in June 25, 2015 at donors meeting at Kathmandu. Unfortunately, the government merely failed to serve the survivors due to so much political influence as well as corrupted and incompetent political leaders and bureaucrats.  About six months took place to form Act, policy on reconstruction. It was further delayed to choose the CEO for National Reconstruction Authority due to turn over the government. It was already more than 4 months of new CEO, but there is merely absence of results around reconstruction. There were no staff as planned, neither the guideline works nor the political leaders. April 24, 2016 was a completion of a year of earthquake or anniversary but almost all survivors are still living under tarpaulins sadly. They deprived from many rights as they deserved.

About two weeks, along with few friends, I was working rigorously against the government's incompetency and  corrupted approach. As an entry point, April 24 2016 or Baisakh 12, 2073 was picked up by marking earthquake anniversary. I was assigned for communication primarily.

It was not easy to work with new team members from various walks of life though we made it. I had invited almost all NGOs where women are leading and working on Human right issue. But no one join the campaign except few friends at personal level.

#Jumlahospital, #C-section, #Bloodtransfusion

When Dr Nilamber Jha was presenting his three years’ experience in Karnali Academy Institute of Health Science as Recter at BPKIHS, Dharan in April 15, 2016,  I was smiling because he was saying that the circumstances of Jumla hospital was so challenging due to local staff’s dadagiri, geography, scary flights, languages and so on.

He went there in 2012 with lots of power delegated by cabinet, an intelligent, with bunch of facilities and group of men. What was happening just 10 years before where there was nothing telephone, road, power and the peak timing of Maoist Insurgency.

He also didn’t say a single word about the history of Jumla hospital when it started, how it was operated and how the first blood bank and C-section were initiated. Likewise, other members of academy e.g. Naresh Bhandari always talked about Jumla hospital from 2012 too, he never ever appreciated the foundation of hospital which had started its first C-section from dressing room, constructed a maternity ward and operation theatre from 2001 to 2004.

Thus, I was sharing these photos from the profile of Jumla hospital which as prepared by myself as record of all activities during my first tenure of Jumla hospital. It was matter of her history instead of his story too. I have very long story during these days though I simply given a summary. I may write in details in future if everything going well.

This the brief history of Jumla hospital from 2001 -2004. Ms. Radha Paudel, worked in Jumla Hospital as Human Resource Development Officer under Nepal Safer Motherhood Project. The hospital was called as district hospital Jumla but the services was look like sub health post where only emergency and outpatient cases dealt for general cases or not included the obstetric and Gyane due to lack of human resources with trained and positive attitude.

Ms. Radha was played as pilot where the rest of team members were worked and the things made happen. Here, this paper is organised by collecting the information from Jumla hospital and shared because it is very important for historians as well as the health history of the Jumla.

The surgery for C-section, blood bank was started as first time in Karnali. Likewise, the obstetric complicated cases were managed first time at Jumla hospital such as vacuum delivery, Pre-eclampsia and use of Magnesium Sulphate, Post Abortion Care (PAC).  It has very long and complex story, will share later.
